Lisa Bielawa - A Handful Of World

from Tzadik website:

This is the first CD release by a remarkable composer/performer who has been Composer-In-Residence at the Boston Modern Orchestra Project for the past two years and a key member of the Philip Glass ensemble for well over a decade. Bringing together a sensuous sense of sound with lyrical sensibilities, Lisa ’s compositions point towards a new postmodern romanticism. Featuring her acclaimed song cycle for voice and violin written for and brilliantly performed by the versatile Carla Kihlstedt, an electronic piece featuring her own beautiful vocalizations and a religious piece for full chorus. This is a brilliant debut by a fresh new compositional voice.
