A new episode of the V5 project, after eleven years since the debut album and some changes of line-up during this long time.
Ken and his ensemble succeed once more in making convergent different attitudes of contemporary music.
This double disc shows, in fact, the eclectism of the composer: an instinct of free improvisation rules “Beat reader”, of course, but there is also space for moments of progressive rock, some unusual rhythms and unexpected variations.
Each track has a definite identity and reserves a particular approach. So, for example, the first part of “New acrylic” is focused on the enthralling rhythm supported by Tim Daisy, the cello of Lonberg-Holm that sounds like a distorted guitar, “Any given number” with its melodic line, "Signposts" that alternates frenetic passages and sudden breaks into a slow playing, “Speedplay" with a pure free bop structure and the unrecognizable Lonberg-Holm’s cello that returns with an incredible rock-style solo.

Another step ahead, the evolution of this excellent group goes on...
