Haptic - Repetition

“On Music” is a series of the Crouton catalogue whose records are only downloadable in mp3 format and temporarily available until their replacement by the next release.
The second item in list was added in March of this year, assigned to Haptic, a collaborative project from Chicago conceived by Steven Hess (dealing with drums, percussion and electronics, also involved in Pan American, On and Fessenden), Joseph Clayton Mills (soundartist as well as painter and writer) and Adam Sonderberg (electronics and computer treatments) .
Furthermore they are all members of a collective named Dropp Ensemble.
As Haptic they previously released two brief works, issued on vinyl by the British label Entr’acte.
“Repetition” is a unique track of 22 minutes built on a multilayered structure made of obscure fluctuations, repetitive cycles and, in addition, some drone patterns melted into diffused noises.
An intelligent use of processed electronics producing attractive sequences wherein flowing sounds are gradually amplified and then suddenly seem to fade out.
Excellent exercise of free-form improvisation surrounded by dark contours.

SoundArt: Janek Schaefer

Eclectic artist with an extremely wide area of interests, Janek Schaefer is more than just a musician.
Architect, photographer, composer, sound artist, graphic designer and, of course, tireless experimenter.
Studying the spatial aspects of sound and its architectural elements starting from raw materials treated with both analog and digital techniques is the core of most of his projects, a final aim of the manipulation of found sounds and a reason behind the use of environmental recordings.
Acclaimed audio and visual works, installations, collaborations have distinguished his activity during over two decades.

Pacific 231 - Stif(f)le (Live In Russia - États Brut Et Balancés)

The early industrial scene can't leave out Pacific231, and Pierre Jolivet (the man who acts behind this project) has surely been one of its pioneers.
During these years Pierre has expanded his fields of interest, aiming to innovate and explore new paths still maintaining ties with the original creative period.
In 2007 he realized a studio work in collaboration with Rapoon (“Palestine”), and now is the time of live material, taken from a Russian tour organized in the same year by Monochrome Vision.
Stif(f)le is, in fact, a documentation of three audiovisual performances held in Moscow, St.-Petersburg and Yaroslavl, where Pierre has used a device supplied with motion sensors to manipulate the sound through body gestures.
These feedbacks have simultaneously been displayed by a data projector.
The recording consists of five tracks which leave the listener to make a good idea about the contents of those live acts: modulated sinewaves, floating soundscapes and disturbing interferences transport into an unknown spatial dimension, a place wherein subconscious perceptions are disclosed.
An immersive aural experience, dragging, absolutely.
