Luc Ferrari - Didascalies: And Other Pieces For Viola, Piano And Memorized Sound

The third and last release in Sub Rosa's three-part series of instrumental works by Luc Ferrari, one of electronic music's most important figures.
Director of the Groupe de Recherche Musicales, established with Pierre Schaeffer in Paris from 1958-1966, he is also one of the masters of musique concrète who influenced and expanded the genre with electro-acoustic instrumentation.
"Tautologos III" (a new version of "Tautologos") was finished a month before his death.

Morton Feldman - For Bunita Marcus

Morton Feldman wrote this piano work for composer and conductor Bunita Marcus in 1985.
It was the third of four large piano compositions that Feldman wrote during his last decade.
The strategy in these compositions was what Feldman referred to as 'crippled symmetry,' derived from the patterns of paintings and oriental rugs, as he attempted to translate these visual ideas into compositional forms.
The characteristics of these compositions include extreme length, hushed volume, precisely colored sonorities, and slow tempos, creating austere yet beautiful melodies intended to be played at extremely soft levels.
Composed in 1985, digitally recorded in 1990, Sub Rosa label published this CD, performed by Stephane Ginsburgh on piano who plays with the Ictus Ensemble.
